While we offer reviews and resources, please note that due diligence is a MUST when making decisions for your troubled teen.
- NATSAP – The National Association of Therapeutic Schools and Programs serves as a “national resource for programs and professionals assisting young people beleaguered by emotional and behavioral difficulties.” They have an extensive list of members, each providing their own resource for struggling youth.
- National Clearinghouse for Drug and Alcohol Information – NCDAI is sponsored by the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration. NCADI is a great resource for information about substance abuse prevention and addiction treatment.
- TheHarborHouse.org – Harbor House in Oklahoma City is a Christian residential facility that offers treatment for teenagers. This includes substance abuse, aggressive behavior, eating disorders and much more. They have worked with troubled teenagers for over 20 years.
- Dreamcenter – The Dreamcenter has a Christian-based residential treatment facility for troubled teens. Known as DC Academy, it partners with Harbor House in providing help and resources for troubled teenagers and their families.
- TroubledTeenBlog.com – This site is a blog from a family with a teen in a therapeutic boarding school. They share their difficulties, joys, and insights for parenting a teen. I enjoy the blog because of the helpfulness provided, and I hope you will too.
- Alcoholics Anonymous – AA offers a large network of support for alcoholics. Visit them to see how 10 teenagers broke free from there addiction to alcohol.
- Aspen Education – Aspen Education provides therapeutic schools and programs for troubled teens. They offer immediate support for you and your troubled teenager.
- Drug-Rehabs.com – Search their database for clinical treatment. You can locate treatment centers by state, age, addiction or facility type. They offer treatment for drug addiction, sexual addiction, eating disorders and much more.
- APA Help Center – Known as the American Psychological Association, they have a large database of information for teen violence, depression, and anger. Through their site you can locate a psychologist nearby.
- National Eating Disorders Association – The National Eating Disorders Association offers A LOT of information addressing teenage eating disorders. They have a helpline you can call anytime!
- Summit Eating Disorders and Outreach Program – Located in Sacramento, California, the Summit Eating Disorders and Outreach Program offers outpatient treatment, day treatment and also inpatient treatment.
- Metanoia – They offer resources and phone numbers to help your teen with depression and suicide. You can talk to a therapist online right now.
- Depressed Like Me – This web site is very informative on depression. You will learn a lot about your teen’s depression reading their resources. They address causes, symptoms, and treatment for teenage depression.
- WIC – WIC – Women, Infants, and Children – provides food, health care and TONS of education for low income pregnant women. WIC is supported and fully funded by Federal grants.
- Adoption - Adoption.com offers a wide range of resources should you consider adoption for this pregnancy. Visit their site for more information on how to have your child adopted. They are committed to helping children find loving homes.
- Birthright International - Founded in 1968, Birthright has helped thousands of pregnant teens in their journey. They offer options counseling for pregnant teenagers.
- Christan Counseling and Educational Foundation – CCEF is a Christian foundation providing resources, counseling and training for families. They counsel families of troubled teens, troubled teens and teens with depression and addictions.
Read Our Review - Second Chance – This faith-based Christian outpatient program is committed to helping families of troubled teens. They play a part in a large network of ministries working together to address teen drug abuse, alcohol, and rebellion.
- Care Net – Care Net is a large organization of pro-life, Christian pregnancy centers. They offer counseling for pregnant teens, pregnancy tests, ultrasounds, and more.
- SAMSHA – The Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration is packed full of resources for counseling. They offer counselors for eating disorders, substance abuse, suicide and more.
- Teen and Family Counseling Center – TFCC, located in California, is a clinic offering counseling services for anger management, divorced families, teen substance abuse, and more. They have information about other clinics and emergency counseling phone numbers.
